Hi! My name is Emma, I'm 27 and I live in Melbourne, Australia. Currently I work in a Gin Distillery and am also studying to become a Florist in my free time. I've had tummy troubles most of my life and over the last few years have been able to narrow it down to a diagnoses of IBS-d. I’ve found the Fodmap diet helps more than any of the other things I’ve tried and I've been eating Fodmap over 2 years whilst working with a dietitian. I’ve be able to re-introduce a few foods but I still eat mostly elimination phase foods as I know I’ll have no issues. I love to cook at home and cook almost every meal I eat. Recently I’ve been sharing my successful recipes via an Instagram account and have really enjoyed it. We dream is to build this up more professionally and work on writing a cook book.
I’m also very open about my IBS and how it effects me these days, it took me a long time to get past the embarrassment. I think everyone battling should be open and honest and understand this is an illness not an embarrassing part of their lives to be ashamed of. The belly bloat is one of my strongest issues and was the one that made me start my belly journey in the first place. It’s so hard to explain how incapacitating and fatigue-inducing a flare up can be for those that have never experienced it. I also deal with bad brain-fog, exhaustion & fatigue, skin irritations, mood swings and low immune system issues as well the toilet situations. Everyone had different syptoms and food to avoid so I'll be sticking to the elimantion phase of the Fodmap diet for most of my recipes.
So with that in mind, welcome to my humble Fodmap blog and thank you for stopping by.
